The desert in bloom

Spent my free time over the last few weekends heading into the desert. It's been amazing as the whole area is in bloom.

First trip was to Red Rocks Canyon, a sate park near Mojave and Edwards Airforce Base.

Stopped for lunch in a 'ghost town'. Previously a thriving mining community. When the gold sopped coming, everyone left. Now the place is a tourist haunt.

Vasquez Rock. This is where they filmed the early star trek series!

'
Popped up to Joshua Tree as one of the producers at the AFI, Kip Pastor was up there camping and climbing for the weekend. Went to the campsite where he said he was. No sign. So drived round in the dark through a series of other sites until I finally found them. No mean feat in such a large national park! Camped out in the desert, was fantastic. CLear skies. Full moon so could see for miles.

So the party was: Kip Pastor a producer at AFI; Jason who works with an advisor for transportation for the Santa Monica Mayor; Maggie who works in Human Rights; Ivan who works for a power company. Interesting group. Hiked out into the wilds.

Our best U2 pose.
