LA and all that jazz

OK a bit of catching up to do. After Hawaii back to AFI and the end of term. Classes slowly phased out freeing up some personal time. So one weekend headed off to Malibu with Nick Quinn. Two white british lumps on the beach - frightening! Amazing spot where Pelicans hang out fishing.

On the Sunday. Nick and I again headed out but this time North East up to the observatory at Mt Wilson.

Spent an afternoon researching at the Autry Museum. Working on a Western Script which is proving to be fun.

I found out back in the UK that President's, when they reach the end of their tenure, are empowered to build a library. I thought this was an excellent way to give back to their communities. Now I was under the impression that a library is a repository for books so had a shock when I visited the Ronnie Regan library to find it is a museum devoted to his and Nancy;s life! I understand they do house all the whitehouse records from his term but still it is completely narcissitic. Fascinated to see what they do for Richard Nixon!

Lava and birthday!

What a way to start my 40th Birthday! Up early and off to see flowing lave. Julia didn't want to say anything as I was so excited for this trip but she had severe seasickness. Luckily nothing came up but the rocking motion and the smell of hydrogen sulphide didn't make her day.

The experience though was extraordinary!

Lazy day nursing sunburn. Then off to Kona and the flight back to LA.

Aloha Hawaii!!

Tide Pools and Orchids

Day of rest spent snorkeling in the tide pools. Julia bought a 'fish card' so we could identify everything we saw.

In the afternoon the owner of our cottage showed us round her orchid farm.
