A day in Hollywood
Hollywood cemetry - the graves of Jonny Ramone, Douglas Fairbanks Snr and Jnr, Peter Lorre etc.
Shopping on Merose - Julia in her element at Marc Jacobs, subsequently Visa are now also pretty happy with her!
Then a trip down Hollywood. OK for a guy with pretty poor smell, LA seems to have revitalised my dying sense. Hollywood smells of jossticks, frying fat, sweat and decay. The pictures don't tell the full story. It's funny how we help to keep alive the nostalgia of hollywood when in fact the street is full of hookers, sex shops, tacky memorabilia, discount stores and fast food. Despite these or because of these the streets are packed with oggling tourists. It's sad and perhaps an indication of where 'media' is heading when the stars on the Hollywood 'walk of fame' of icons like D W Griffiths or Orson Wells are right outside a store selling vibrators and thongs!
None the less we took them all in - Mann's Chinese Cinema, the Kodak Theatre and David Beckham.
Supper at the Formosa cafe, featured in LA confidential and the historic drink grounds of Bogart et al. I had a fantastic meal of catfish and wasabi mash - excellent. We then headed across the road for a martini at Jones. Sound duke box, full of 80s indie classics.
