Paradise for seven dollars.
Started out on Mulholland Drive, but the smog and sea layer clouded our views. Through Beverley Hills and Bel Air to Malibu.
When the sea layer finally lifted, we went to paradise. It cost seven dollars. Full of trailer trash so abandoned our dreams and spent the afternoon at the Malibu Lagoon instead. Surf was up. Think I will have to investigate this surfing racket.
A tasty nutritious lunch. When asked by the waitress why I took a photo of the drive through I said it was to remind us of our holiday. 'Whats that?' she asked. So I was forced to slip into the lingua franca. 'Our vacation.' She then got the message.
Investigated the surf scene in Santa Monica. Expecting a surf board to be a couple of hundred dollars was knocked for six when most appeared to be around $700 to $800.
Evening at the Fish Company with Jason and Catherine. They are in good form as the latest on their little boy is very positive. His name is Reuben Jack (around 3 months old) and is in intensive care with a series of complications including charge syndrome and a hole in the heart. Catherine has set up a blog at http://reubenjackdodd.blogspot.com - to say its moving is an understatement. It looks as though Jason may become a partner in crime on the surfing front.
Home in the chariot.
Julia - a little sun burn but very content. A great day.
