Sweden we love you

Two things to be happy about. The first: an exchange rate of two US dollars to one pound, it almost makes this place afforable. The second: Ikea. Sorry but its true, it has been a life saver, especially to someone who is averse to shopping. Ikea is cheap in the UK, but factor in the exchange rate and they are practically giving away the stuff. Desk, bed, comfy chair - all the trapings of an ideal batchelor pad. I am sure the rough edges will be ironed out as soon as Julia comes out for a holiday. Really pleased.

Second key obstacle: a car. Nightmare, as I am no petrol head. Checked out a ton of second hand, sorry they don't use that word here, pre-owned vehicles. All looked awful with a ton of mileage, despite these obvious signs the smiley salesman naturally extolled the virtues of such fine longstanding engineering. Car salesmen are no different the world over. Well finally plumped for a brand new Toyota Yaris. Reeling from the cost but all in all best value and with great resale potential. Nothing like buyers remorse as I justify the expense!
