Bootcamp - Edit

08.00 we kicked off. Digitised the rushes - looks great. Left Nick alone to carry out his first cut.

Had a coffee with Stephen Leggitt and then Ethan Ransom. Enjoyed teh conversations. Really fascinating exploring what writers are interested in.

Back at 13.00 waited for Sophie, no sign so cracked on. First cut is very solid and great foundation. Jeff and Adam left Nick and I alone to start to tease out moments in the story. Sophie popped in latter. We had three hours to work through the scenes - intense work - Nick was fast and efficient and we slowly sculpted the scene, looking for those moments of emotion and beats between the two characters. 16.00 final cut. Sound - Nick very pleased with the quality - a real bonus. Jeff in at 16.30 for colour correction. Sophie had to leave as her friend was not feeling good. Exhausted and satisfied. Lookinh good.

Screen grab of Fanshen from the final sequence.

Well rain was promised and, yes it did finally arrive. No English downpours, more of a thin drizzle. Above the photographic proof.

Nick and I ended up at the Dresden for a debrief. A good day.
