Bootcamp - production

Bootcamp started at 07.45 Wednesday 19th September....

...with a pick up of equipment from club grip and camera/sound from the SDAC....

...with the producers in the thick of it organising the day...

..and the editors starting to realise that they had in fact enrolled on a 'sound' coures...

..whilst cinematographers grappled with binary visions of digital pictures...

....and actors did what actors do: 'prepare' which equals drink coffee, read the paper all in the name of 'getting into character'...

...script writers perpared for the ultimate desecration of their work...

...and producers collected together to confirm that God had stepped down and they would naturally be next in the ascendancy...

....meanwhile, Directors endeavoured to do everything themselves. So began the image of boot camp!!

Worked as Assistant Camera on 'Apt 209' The team was as follows:

Director; Valentina Avayu
Producer: Meng Wang
Writer: Michael Pomphrey
Cinematographer: Matthew Lloyd
Editor: Nick Quinn
Production Designer" 'Oz' Aashild Nordaas

First AD: Sophie Watts
Continuity: Adam Benic
Sound: Nick Quinn
Camera: Martin Stitt

The morning flew by as the team learnt how to communicate and work together. It was great fun and fantastic to be back on set.

Nick, Jon, Kirk, James and Burt.

Matt in the thick of it, and then it was a wrap.

And it was our turn. Post safety brief we were in the thick of it. it was a fantastic four hours. We were ambitious with our shot list. The scene was way trickier than it seemed. Essentially a very intimate moment whe the two chracters first kiss. Fanshen and John were great. It was lovely to work with them both. I keeping forgetting how much I love this, the buzz and excitement when the actors give you something you don't expect but works beautifully for the story. The four hours flew by. Slow at first as we got to know each other on set (and here I mean crew - it's one thing talking about it and another actually walking the walk). Jeff was fantastic and real pleasure to work with. We had planned well in advance and he lit beautifully, quickly and efficiently. A good delegator and really professional. Nick picked up sound fantastically. So all flowed really well and we all worked well as a team. Small sticking point, 1st AD, its a real diplomatic position. In the end we finished 10 minutes early, with 12 set ups in the can.

Lots of visitors on set - Sheila Sullivan, Joe Petricca, Bob Mandel, Michael (Mitch) Corrente (Director) but to name a few.

The joking at the start of this blog aside - it was a great day and real pleasure and privilege to be shooting once again. Everyone was fantastic.

Fanshen and John were fabulous and my heart goes out to them.

Jeff - thank you.
